Transfer Factor™ Overview
"It is our ability to create a healthy immune system that represents the
greatest potential for gains in human health."
--Richard Bennet, PhD
An Introduction
What is one of the most important factors for good quality of life? your health.
And what scientifically-proven, natural element can help you improve and invest
in good health throughout your life? 4Life Transfer Factor.
Our health is directly influenced by our immune system, and a balanced, healthy
immune system is central to the body's ability to defend against infection and
cancer. Today, however, many factors contribute to the general weakening of the
body's defenses: resistance to antibiotics; deterioration of water quality;
frequent international travel; and other factors. Fortunately, recent research
has uncovered a natural agent that can increase our ability to fight disease and
improve quality of life for many people. "Transfer factor" is the name given to
this agent, and it is a natural way of strengthening our immune system against
disease.

Transfer Factor™
is a vital immune factor brought to us directly from Mother Nature, found in
every mammal on earth. Transfer factors are messaging molecules the convey
information within an animal's immune system, as well as transferring immune
information from one animal or person to another via blood transfusion or breast
feeding. This is, in fact, how it got it's name, "transfer factor."
Every mother that breast feeds her infant passes on her immunity, including much
of the information her immune system has gained in her lifetime. This process
begins with the first milk, called colostrum. There are many things in colostrum,
but the most valuable of the "immunity weapons" in colostrum are called transfer
factors.
How Does Transfer Factor™ Work?
Simplistically, transfer factor strengthens the immune system. But that could be
said about a number of herbal products and other supplements such as echinacea,
aloe vera, garlic, colostrum, cordyceps, shiitake mushroom, beta glucans, IP-6,
etc. However, an
independent study
recently showed that Transfer Factor™ and Transfer Factor Plus™ enhance NK cell
immune cell function to a greater extent than any of the preceding products (see
details below). Unlike most immune supplements that provide the building blocks
for proper immune function, transfer factor is "immune intelligence," or immune
information and education that focuses the immune system, keeping it on task and
effective.
By transferring information from cell to cell and even from individual to
individual, transfer factors serve as "teachers" of new immune cells, ensuring a
strong immune system capable of withstanding our often harsh environment.* The
first time your body responds to a disease or cancer, the response often is
relatively mild. But after the initial immune response is over, your immune
system keeps memory, and responds much faster and stronger the next time that
disease or cancer is encountered. Transfer factors "teach" new cells to react to
some disease-causing agents as if it has seen them before--faster and
stronger--on the very first encounter.
Transfer factor is not a single entity, but rather a complex mixture containing
at least three separate fractions: an "inducer fraction"; an "antigen specific
fraction"; and a "suppressor fraction."
-
the
inducer fraction readies the immune system for attack on disease causing
invaders, but does not yet tell the immune system what to attack.
-
the
antigen specific fraction identifies critical features of the disease
causing agents and stimulates the immune system to produce transfer factors
which act specifically against the invading organisms or cells.
-
the
suppressor fraction demobilizes the immune system when the threat has
been eliminated. Without this action, our immune systems could injure our
own bodies, as occurs with autoimmune diseases and allergies.
The above three fractions work together to create three primary immune enhancing
functions:
-
recognizing
and alerting our immune system to the "threat"
-
conditioning our immune system to respond quickly to "threats"
-
remembering
the threats we encounter to quickly respond in the future
How is
Transfer Factor™ Produced?
Historically, transfer factors have been collected from the blood of one animal
or person and given to another (transfer factors are equally effective in all
mammals). Now, through a special patented (US patent 4,816,563) process licensed
to 4Life Research™, concentrated transfer factors can now be extracted from cow
colostrum. Our proprietary Transfer Factor™ product helps our bodies build up
immunity to all the outside threats which the cow has been exposed to in his
lifetime.
How is
Transfer Factor™ different from colostrum?
Important ingredients in colostrum include water, nutritional fats and proteins,
antibodies, immune cells, and transfer factors. Both antibodies and transfer
factors support "passive" immunity in the newborn. Antibodies are effective at
transmitting immunity from a mother to her young in the first few days of life,
but are not very effective at transferring immunity to adults on a long term
basis.
First, antibodies are absorbed by the intestines efficiently only during the
first few days of life, so any antibodies given by mouth to an adult may not be
absorbed very well. If antibodies are transferred from one species to another,
they must be given by injection in order to be effective. Second, unlike
transfer factors, antibodies from one species are not necessarily effective in
another animal or person. If cross-species antibodies are effective, they are
usually effective only for a short time, because the recipient will eventually
make antibodies which destroy the donor antibodies (called anti-antibodies).
However, transfer factors have been shown to be just as effective when given
orally as when given by injection.
Hyperimmune egg and colostrum products are good, but certain issues must be
addressed. First, lactose and large proteins which are potentially allergy
causing are not removed from those products, so lactose intolerant and allergic
people may not be able to take some of those products. Lactose and large
proteins, including casein and antibodies, are not present in 4Life Transfer
Factor™. One would need to consume about 45 grams (3 tablespoons) of colostrum
to get the transfer factor activity in just one daily maintenance dose of 4Life
Transfer Factor (3 small capsules).
Depending on the processing used, other products from colostrum may not be
guaranteed to contain any amount of transfer factor. 4Life's Transfer Factor™ is
licensed under a patent that recognizes that transfer factors exist in cow
colostrum and that transfer factors can be effectively extracted and
concentrated for human consumption. Every batch of 4 Life Transfer Factor™ is
tested to ensure transfer factor activity.
